Musculoskeletal conditions
Musculoskeletal issues present in many forms. For some, it’s an acute injury—a neck strain, a sudden flare of sciatica, or a back that “goes out” unexpectedly. For others, pain becomes chronic: a shoulder that never fully recovered after surgery, a knee that flares without clear cause, or an overuse injury that lingers long past the expected healing timeline.
Often, the issue isn’t only the pain itself, but the pattern behind it—reinjuring the same area repeatedly, compensating in subtle ways, or feeling as though healing never fully completes.
Whether your concern is new or longstanding, my approach looks beyond the site of pain to understand why recovery may be stalled. Together, we assess structural, neurological, and behavioral patterns that contribute to strain—supporting your body in rebuilding strength, restoring coordinated movement, and regaining trust.

Conditions commonly addressed include:
-
Low back pain (acute or chronic)
-
Sciatica and radiating nerve pain
-
Neuropathy or altered sensation related to structural issues
-
Neck pain and mobility restriction
-
Shoulder, hip, or knee injuries (recent or longstanding)
-
Tendinitis and joint dysfunction (frozen shoulder, IT band syndrome, tennis/golfer’s elbow)
-
Repetitive strain injuries (carpal tunnel, plantar fasciitis)
-
Incomplete surgical recovery or stalled rehabilitation
-
Chronic pain without a clear structural diagnosis
-
Recurrent injuries or compensation patterns

These approaches can be valuable—and for some people, they’re sufficient. But when pain persists or keeps returning, it often signals that the broader pattern hasn’t been fully addressed. My work integrates detailed structural assessment with acupuncture, naturopathic support, movement analysis, and embodied awareness to identify contributing factors and support more durable recovery.

What my clients say
I started working with Lance after dealing with chronic pain for a couple of years… I felt hopeless when I came to my first appointment, but Lance helped me immensely over the following months and now most of my days are pain free. I appreciated that he approached the pain holistically and connected mental health and physical health in a way no doctor ever has for me.
SW
I went to Dr. Westendarp expecting traditional acupuncture treatment, however he introduced me to a totally unexpected approach to body alignment and movement… He first did a complete evaluation of my shoulder, then performed a treatment that included neuromuscular massage, acupuncture, and an in-depth demonstration of exercises I could do.
AM
He could push me out of my comfort zone and I felt comfortable knowing that I would be safe with the movements and exercises he gave me.
